How to… whip cream?!

November 19, 2009 | Categories: How-To, Recipes | 4 Comments

Sometimes I forget that some of my readers are at the very beginning stages of learning how to cook. Some of them don’t know the most simple things, like whipping your own cream. Some of the most simple things though, can be some of the most delicious and… and… life altering.

Now, join me, grasshoppers. Whipping cream, let me show you.

Roasted Rosemary New Potatoes and Green Beans

November 10, 2009 | Categories: Recipes, Recipes: Sides | 7 Comments

There’s something about roasting veggies that makes them so… delish! Something happens to them when they’re under foil, something that just cannot be explained!

In this recipe I toss fresh green beans, onions and new potatoes in olive oil, rosemary, and minced garlic. This will make your house smell like pure love, and could quite possibly make your children, pets, significant other, friends, family, love you just a little bit more.

Baked Chicken Tenders

October 10, 2009 | Categories: Recipes, Recipes: Entrees | 4 Comments

I don’t know about you, but chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese always remind me of lunches as a kid. Possibly with some green beans, that miraculously ended up stuffed under the tie-on chair cushions. Or spaced out all over the plate to give the illusion that some were eaten. Or in the dog’s belly. In any case, the chicken tenders and macaroni were never stuffed anywhere besides our precious little tummies!

Tres Leches Cake

October 1, 2009 | Categories: Recipes, Recipes: Desserts | 1 Comment

This cake has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I had a friend in fifth grade, she was Mexican and her Mother made it during our slumber party. I didn’t realize it was the same cake until I had it at a restaurant several years later, jotted down the name, and looked up the recipe.

I made this cake last night, and I think you should make it, right now. Your taste buds need this cake. They will dance, I promise. Click here to get Alton’s Brown’s version of this recipe

Peanut Butter Mud Pie!

September 29, 2009 | Categories: Recipes, Recipes: Desserts | 2 Comments

This pie brings a whole new meaning to fast and easy, and friggen yummy. One night, about a month ago because that’s how long I have been insanely busy and had no time to blog sorry sorry sorry *gasp*. As I was saying, about a month ago, I was really, really wanting something sweet. I didn’t have anything handy (I try not to buy it for that purpose exactly! If I’m going to eat something fattening, I might as well work for it first, ha!) This is what I made. This darn near sinful peanut butter oreo pie.

Traditional Baked Cheesecake

August 20, 2009 | Categories: Recipes, Recipes: Desserts | 6 Comments

I’m a fan of a cheesecake… I’m a big fan of cheesecake. I can tell the difference between an actual baked cheesecake and a store bought or even worse, a packaged cheesecake, in a heart beat! A lot of people choose to buy their cheesecakes in boxes because it’s less work, it’s quicker, and it’s insanely cheaper. Me? I’d rather spend a few hours in the kitchen and pay for all the ingredients for THIS taste. This cheesecake will have you thinking very inappropriate things, I promise.

Oh, I apologize for some of these pictures. I was also baking the biggest lasagna of my life for a little dinner get-together, and I was busy… And also shoving fork-fulls of cheesecake in my mouth.

Mine cracked, but I don’t mind. Who am I anyway? Paula Deen? Jeeze.
